Experience the Magic of Blacklight Mask and Dance
Immerse yourself in an otherworldly dance experience with ArcheDream for Humankind. Our mesmerizing blacklight performances will transport you to a realm of wonder and awe.

Founded in 2001, ArcheDream for HUMANKIND is an internationally touring blacklight mask and dance theatre company that explores universal ideas and emotions through original performances for audiences of all ages. Merging ancient ritual, magical storytelling, puppetry, mask theater, and music in black light, ADHK’s uniquely tailored performances and educational workshops inspire and enchant audiences of all ages.
This company is the vision and voice of South African artist Alan Bell. Growing up in the age of Apartheid, he resolved to find an art form that would unify the radically divided audience in an ecstasy of wonder. In 1976, Alan fled to Amsterdam where he discovered the power of the tradition of mask theater to convey stories and unifying truths in a dreamlike and mythological way, resonating with the audiences subconscious perceptions and outward expressions. By combining the bold subtleties of mask theater with the medium of black light, Alan has discovered a method to bridge his African roots and inherited European and American culture to create archetypal theatre that transforms by relieving audiences of suppressed feelings that is at the root of our alienation from one another.

Since 2016, ArcheDream for Humankind and Move Makers Philly have Collaborated TO COMBINE ADHK’s blacklight theatrical prowess and MMP’s legendary hiphop dance to ignite the imaginative powers of students in the Philadelphia Region.
Workshops between the organizations consisted of both short and long term projects that included mask making and mask & movement workshops, as well as workshops culminating in a full theatrical presentation of a black light dance and puppet performance.

We are thrilled to launch our 3rd annual Winter fundraiser to support programming for underserved youth in Philadelphia. Our work has grown and become more robust each year. In the Spring of 2021, we started with our first summer camp scholarship fundraiser. Last year, we grew to serve 250 students per week in Philadelphia School District (PSD) classrooms, an amount of children that exceeds those that attend MoveMakers as paying members. This is a major accomplishment. We also provided educational performance to over 2000 kids across various schools in Philly in 2023. We are motivated to keep raising the bar in how we serve Philly youth and public schools.
